Logan and K-9 Moses

K-9 Moses

I grew up in Kasota, MN and enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in 2014 as a 13B Cannon Crewmember. I graduated from Moler Barber School in February 2016 and have been a barber in Mankato, MN since. I loved the military and like any young soldier so badly wanted to deploy.
I got my wish in 2020 and deployed to Afghanistan working on Counter Rocket Artillery and Mortar (C-RAM) as an LPWS operator. Afghanistan during the draw down at that time wasn't as active as it had been in the past, but was still very much a warzone. I had a close encounter with God over there and firmly believe I am only alive today by His intervention.
Since returning in 2021 I have struggled with anxiety, depression, and PTS. After a failed marriage my mental health declined even more and I lost the love for things I used to enjoy. The military became a chore, work felt pointless, and I was coping in unhealthy ways. I finally began seeking help a year later.
My life has improved a great deal in the last couple years. I remarried in October of 2023 and I changed from Artillery to Religious Affairs in early 2024. I now feel more purpose in my military career, but I still have tough days every now and then. My wife and I decided to get a dog in June of 2024 and my sister told me about Soldiers6. Moses has brought a lot of joy into my life. We go everywhere together, the routine, companionship, and increased activity make the tough days pass quickly. I feel blessed to have been able to work with Soldiers6 and am so grateful to everyone who makes their program possible.
