How does one even begin to write a post about a dog who had everyone’s hearts ?
Hal was larger than life and had one of the toughest jobs on the planet… to heal the hearts of those who protect us.
Hal was a beautiful golden retriever, who like many heroes, never live long enough. And dogs, no matter the age, most certainly don’t live long enough.
Hal leaves behind a path of broken hearts that will never be full again. His memory will live on forever. His brother Riley will help to take charge and love on those left behind.
Please, keep Hal’s handler and family in your thoughts and prayers. They are going to need all of the strength to get through this. Please keep our heroes at South Metro safe. I know Hal will be watching over all of them from above.
Much appreciation to all those involved in giving Hal a hero’s last ride. South St. Paul Police Department, West St. Paul Police Department, Inver Grove Heights Police Department all came together for Hals escort to the vet. Even Trainer Tom, who has been instrumental on this teams journey was there for the final good bye. To feel the magnitude of the love and yet so much devastation, as we all gathered to honor this beautiful boy, well, it was pretty powerful. He touched so many lives. Thank you to Blackberry Veterinary Center, PLLC for taking care of all of the needed details and making it a special place to receive our special guy Hal.
Rest in peace Hal. Until you all meet again at the rainbow bridge. Watch over your family.
